In 1968 SOFAR was founded as an Italian distributor of drugs for third parties. Our company has come a long way since then! Our next step was to develop our own line of drugs, followed by expansion into dietary supplements and medical devices. At the dawn of the new millennium, and more so in the past five years, SOFAR has become recognized as one of the leading companies in the gastroenterology sector. This is hallmarked by our Research & Development of a unique, effective and very consumer-friendly probiotic line, Enterolactis, which has quickly conquered the swiftly growing probiotics market and has greatly influenced gastroenterology.
Since its inception, SOFAR has distinguished itself for its capacity to propose technologically avant-garde solutions, thanks to its world-class Research & Development. This core capacity is represented by an innovative robotic system – now called Senhance® – for mini-invasive laparoscopic surgery, the result of 13 years of cutting-edge research and investment.
Presently, SOFAR is active in various countries and is positioned among the first 10 brands in the self-medication sector in Italy. What was a small business 50 years ago has grown steadily to become an international corporation with over 320 employees.
