SOFAR’s innovation, research and “Made in Italy” quality are becoming ever more well-known and appreciated throughout the world. This is confirmed by the achievement of a new, important milestone in our internationalization program. As a result of a collaboration with CLINICAL ADVANTAGE PTY LTD., our probiotic is now available in Australia.
We are proud to introduce our LP-DG™ probiotic strain (Lactobacillus paracasei DG) into the Australian market where consumers can enjoy its benefit as Biotik™. Australia’s health industry is an energized market in which dietary integrators are particularly innovative and high quality. Biotik™ (and its American counterpart, Innovia Nectar) is an example of SOFAR’s successful research and development that has enabled us to become a leader in the field of gastroenterology. The probiotic product is based on patented single-dose micro-shot technology of which SOFAR is the exclusive licensee for use with probiotics.
There are two Biotik™ products: Biotik™ Digestion, suitable for adults and children over 4 years old, and Biotik™ Children’s, formulated for younger children.
The global scientific community continues to reveal research results confirming the important role probiotics play in children’s health. In October 2018 the research center of the multinational food company, Danone published a new study on the importance of probiotics, exploring the connections between a children’s brain development and intestinal well-being, thus launching a new area in the field of pediatrics.
In the first three years of a child's life, the microbiota – the rich variety of the intestinal flora -- develops completely, which is why intestinal well-being is important for children at a global level. Scientists have established that there is a connection between intestinal flora, the gastrointestinal tract and the brain, and that it is regulated at a metabolic level. (However, the manner in which these three elements communicate has yet to be discovered.)
As science continues to explore this connection, introducing probiotics into the infant’s diet could be useful. Biotik™ Children's, formulated for children up to four years old, is in perfect alignment with the scientists’ findings. Each micro-shot, which has a strawberry flavor to make it pleasing to children, contains one billion LP-DG (Lactobacillus paracasei DG). It is recommended for children up to 12 years old, to support the continued enrichment of the intestinal flora to help set them up for a lifetime of good health and well-being.
